Abstract

The aim of this article is to provide a critical evaluation of two positions. On the one hand, those accounts of deliberative democracy that try to take into account the emotional dimension and, on the other, the versions that keep a skeptical attitude on this matter. I will claim that in spite of some concern raised by the critics, there are still good reasons to consider the emotional model of the deliberative democracy as plausible. Finally, I will highlight some aspects that I think should be contemplated for the incorporation of emotions into the deliberative model.
